Salisbury fire units were dispatched to a reported gas main break in front of 300 East Williams Street. Assistant Chief Scott was in the area and confirmed an active leak with city workers on location. Engine 161 arrived and secured a water source and stretched a 2.5 inch line with a portable monitor for protection. Truck 1 was requested for additional man power. They arrived and assisted with the evacuation of the occupants on the 300 block of East Williams Street. Chesapeake Gas Company arrived quickly and worked on securing the leak. Units remained on scene for several hours before the leak was stopped and the scene was declared under control.
