The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has implemented a statewide ban on open-air burning in all Maryland counties, effective November 1. The following is some guidance on what this means:
- Under the burn ban, Open-air burning, such as campfires and charcoal grilling, is prohibited. Open-air burning is a fire where any material is burned in the open or in a receptacle other than a furnace, incinerator, or other equipment connected to a stack or chimney.
- Usage of propane grills is permitted.
- The ban will remain in effect until the Maryland Forest Service determines the state has received enough precipitation to reduce the threat of wildfires statewide.
