Salisbury Fire Department Pinning and Award Ceremony - Station 16

The Salisbury Fire Department recently held an Pinning and Award Ceremony at Station 16 to recognize some of the achievements and accomplishments of our members.
Recognized in the Pinning Ceremony were James Jester and Rob Frampton, who were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant; Mark Cotter, who was promoted to the rank of Captain; and Lee Smith and Joel McCroy, who were promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief. Congratulations to these officers!
Firefighter Justin Byrd was recognized for rendering medical intervention at the Applebee's Restaurant for a young person choking. Firefighter Byrd was able to dislodge a piece of food that had restricted the child's airway.
The American Heartsaver Award was presented to the teachers and school nurse from Bennett High School for performing CPR and saving the life of a 16 year old student. The award was given to Kathy Elliott, Melissa Cullen, Jerry Bennett, and Kathy Riggins.
Finally, the Presidential Volunteer Lifetime Award was presented to Firefighter David Black for his contributions to his country and his community. Firefighter Black currently serves as the rank of Major in the Maryland National Guard.
