Christening Ceremony for the New Fire Boat - Port Of Salisbury
Saturday, June 23, 2012

On June 23, 2012 the Salisbury Fire Department held a christening ceremony, placing in service the new Rapid Response Fire Boat. The vessel was named the Michael J. McMullen. McMullen was a Career Firefighter Paramedic who had joined the department in 2001, but tragically lost his life in 2005 while serving in Iraq. The McMullen family was on hand to break the traditional Champaign bottle over the bow of the vessel. Once the vessel was christened the members of the Salisbury Fire Department demonstrated some of its capabilities. After the demonstration spectators were given the opportunity to come aboard and view the inner workings of the vessel.
