Building Fire - 1535 Northwood Dr

At 0200 hours, stations 2, 16 and 1 were alerted to 1535 Northwood Dr for a report of a building on fire. Salisbury city police were on scene comfirming a working fire in the building. Assistant Chief 1(Records) arrived on scene with a single story steel strand building with fire in one of the service bays. The engine from 16 arrived and laid 100ft of supply line from the hydrant at Northwood and Edgemore Ave. They stretched 150ft of 2 1/2 to side A. Officer and lineman forced entry with the irons through a front metal door, while the driver used the partner saw to make his own door via the roll up door on side A. The engine crew made a push inside and encountered heavy fire in the service bay and through the sky light in the roof. Engine 2 assisted with forcible entry and a back up line. Crews determined the fire originated on a zero turn mower in the bay. Fire marshall was requested and he determined there was a malfunction in the mower which caused the fire. Engine 1 assisted with overhaul.
