SFD honors Retiree John Swartz

John Swartz started his service with the Salisbury Fire Department on January 23, 1971 as a Volunteer at SFD Station 2. He served Station 2 and transferred to Station 16 as a Volunteer Firefighter, Engineer, Ladder Lieutenant, Ladder Captain, and 1st Assistant Chief.

John later joined the Career Division as a Ambulance Driver in 1971 and transferred to the Fire Side in 1974.  He became at Medic (CRT) in 1974 completing the  2nd ALS Class at PRMC. He was a Engineer and Diver for the SFD while proudly serving the City of Salisbury for 33 years until his retirement on July 1, 2004 as part of the (Magnificent Seven).

John spoke to the SFD members about aggressive driving, situation awareness, fire gear enhancement, chemox respirators, and proudly serving the SFD and the Citizen of Salisbury.
