On Tuesday, August 5, 2014, crews from Station 1 and Station 16 went to the Richard A. Henson YMCA for Camp Discovery. They were invited to talk to the kids about fire safety. AC Records, FF/PM Helmuth, and Acting Lt. Cox talked to the kids about fire safety and what they should do in case of an emergency. They answered questions and FF/EMT Layton dressed in full turnout gear to show the kids what a firefighter looks like and not to be afraid if they see them in the event of a fire. Lt. Twilley and FF/EMT Hoster gave the children tours of Engine 16 and explained about the equipment carried on the apparatus. Children were allowed to sit in the engine, see the lights, and hear the sirens. Children and counselors, as well as the crews, had a great time talking and spending time together. Thanks to the Richard A. Henson YMCA for inviting us to participate in their summer camp festivities.
