SFD Personnel Participate in DP&L Drill
Thursday, September 4, 2014
SFD personnel participated in a "Man Down" drill sponsored by DP&L on 9/4/14. Personnel responded to a scenario consisting of two DP&L employees who had been electrocuted with one on the ground and one 30 feet in the air in a bucket truck. Members conferred with DP&L personnel to ensure no electrical hazards were present and then were required to develop plans of action to effect the safe removal of both victims. Tower 16's bucket was utilized as Plan A, while a lowering system consisting of ropes and rigging was set up as Plan B.
Counting apparatus placement, communication with DP&L personnel, scene assessment, development of an Incident Action Plan, and implementation of same, both victims were rescued and the scene was placed Under Control in 22 minutes.
The drill effectively demonstrates the SFD's commitment to training, as well as its commitment to developing solid relationships with local businesses.
