Salisbury Fire Department

Around 03:30 hours on Saturday morning, Wicomico Stations 12 (West Side), 5 (Hebron), and 9 (Mardela) were dispatched for a chicken house fire in the area of Oak Grove Rd and Texas Rd.  Engine Tanker 1202 arrived on scene shortly after to find a chicken house well off with numerous nearby exposures including several vehicles, a house, and other chicken houses.  Due to the fire load and immediate threat for fire spread to the exposures, the Tanker Task Force was sounded bringing Engine 16 and Engine Tanker 1-1 from Salisbury to the scene.  Crews arrived on scene and performed various duties on the fire ground to contain the fire and prevent fire from spreading to the nearby exposures.  Station 2 was later dispatched for an engine to standby at Station 9 while crews operated on scene.  SFD crews cleared the alarm after operating on scene for nearly 3 hours.  Maryland State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
