Salisbury Fire Department

Retired Fire Captain Greg Smith was honored on Sunday December 14, 2014 with good food and fellowship. Captain Smith started as a Volunteer Firefighter for the Pittsville Fire Department in 1970 and served the PVFD until 1986. Greg became a Career Firefigther on June 24, 1979 for the Salisbury Fire Department at Station 2. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and to Captain in 1997. He retired on July 1, 2004 serving the City of Salisbury for a total of 25 years.

Captain Smith came today to speak about the Salisbury Fire Department past, present, and future. He spoke about the advances in technology in equipment/ apparatus, the position of Supply/ Quartermaster, and a residential building fire on Rose Street at shift change.

The Salisbury Fire Department thanks Retired Captain Greg Smith for his dedication and service to the City of Salisbury.
