Sunday, July 26, 2015
Retired Assistant Fire Chief Gilbert Posey was honored on Sunday July 26, 2015 with good food and fellowship. Chief Pusey became a Career Firefighter on May 1971. Fire Chief Wilson Taylor was leaving for lunch and hired Gilbert on the spot after a brief conversation. He served the SFD as a Career Firefighter, Motor Pump Operator, Captain and Assistant Chief. He retired on April 2, 2002 after serving the City of Salisbury for 31 years.
Assistant Chief Pusey came today to speak about the Salisbury Fire Department past, present, and future.
He passed on to "Treat everyone fair and equal". "Do your job, if you don't know how, then ask." He used a total of five sick days during his entire career. His best memory was the Patrick Avenue fire where he and Darrin Scott pulled a male victim out and the patient survived.
On March 16, 2002 Chief Pusey had a heart attack on duty and was revived by SFD members on scene.
The Salisbury Fire Department thanks Retired Assistant Chief Gilbert Pusey for his dedication and service to the City of Salisbury.
