The Salisbury Fire Department has put in service four total LUCAS 2 Chest Compression Devices. The LUCAS 2 battery-operated CPR device is a portable, easy-to-use device that delivers automated, guidelines-consistent chest compressions to improve blood flow in victims of cardiac arrest. LUCAS performs at a rate of at least 100 compressions per minute with a depth of at least 2 inches. It also allows for complete chest wall recoil after each compression and provides a 50% duty cycle—equal compression and relaxation time for the chest wall.

The LUCAS devices assists first responders with effective, consistent, and uninterrupted compressions according to current AHA (American Heart Association) guidelines, maintains good blood flow, is easy and efficient to use, and keeps personnel safe during CPR.

The Salisbury Fire Department Inc. (Station 16 Volunteers) generously purchased and donated the LUCAS CPR Devices to the Salisbury Fire Department.
