Early Morning Fire on Fitzwater

Units were dispatched to a reported structure fire, reported as a working fire by Salisbury PD.  AC-1 requested the next due truck from Delmar to respond.  The MDT stated that possibly two subjects were trapped on the second floor.  AC-1 arrived with a 2-story, middle of the row structure with fire showing from Division 1, side A.  AC-1 established Fitzwater St. Command.  E16-1 secured the hydrant on the corner of Hill St. and Fitzwater St. and deployed an 1-3/4" to the side A, front door.  Truck 2 arrived on side A and began throwing ladders to the second floor and set the aerial to the second floor window.  E2 arrived and positioned on side C, along with E1, who had secured a second water source.  They stretched two lines to the rear and made entry.  Truck 2's crew performed searches on both floors which proved negative.  Truck 74 and E507 arrived and positioned on the A/B corner.  TK-74 got their aerial to the roof.  E507's crew checked exposure D and Truck 74's crew checked exposure B.  Both exposures were vacant.  PM-16 was assigned patient care and Accountability.  There were no patients.  PM-2 assisted with fire attack briefly and then returned to service.  Significant fire damage existed throughout the structure and crews performed extensive overhaul.  The second floor occupant was not home at the time of the fire and the 2 adults and 2 children escaped from the first floor prior to FD arrival.  MSFM, Delmarva Power, GNI Properties, and the Red Cross were requested and responded.  The water was shut off at the street and gas was shut off at the front of the house.  No injuries to fire service or civilian personnel were reported.  Crews cleared around 4am.
