National Weather Service Alert for Fire Danger Today!
Monday, March 9, 2020
From the State Fire Supervisor of the Department of Natural Resources:
Please be advised that the National Weather Service across all 3 MD forecast zones are predicting High to Very High Fire Danger statewide today. Temperatures will climb into the low 70's and relative humidity values will drop to between 15-20% across the state with the lowest RH values predicted west of the metropolitan areas. These conditions will be accompanied by winds from the SW in the 6-10 mph range with gusts into the mid teens to around 20 mph.
Although Red Flag criteria will not be met due to lower wind speeds, any wildfires under these conditions have the potential to spread rapidly and become out of control.
