Salisbury Fire Department

Station 1 was dispatched to a reported gas leak on the corner of West Rd. and Richmond Ave. Truck 1 arrived to find a backhoe had damaged an underground natural gas main and had an active leak. Truck 1 secured a water supply and crews stretched attack lines for protection. Command (Asst. Chief Records) request an additional engine from station 2. Engine 2 arrived and secured their own water source and assisted with evacuation of the residence in the area. Crew operated on the scene for about an hour until Chesapeake utilities could repair the leak.
