Station 16 Assist Hebron With A Barn Fire

At 16:09 Hours, Stations 5 (Hebron), 16 (Salisbury), and 12 (Westside) were dispatched for a structure fire, reported to be a horse barn, at 27182 Nanticoke Road. Engine 16 responded w/ 21B (Derbyshire) and four personnel. Arriving four minutes later, 21B established command, giving a Brief Initial Report that included a working fire in a detached 15’x20’ storage shed. Engine 16’s suppression crew employed a 1.75" preconnected handline and knocked down the bulk of the fire. Engine 507 was next on the scene and delivered its booster tank supply to Engine 16, now employing a second 1.75" preconnected handline operated by the crew of Engine 507. Command was transferred to 516 (Phippin). Water Tenders 12 and 508, as well as Pumper/Tender 1202 supplied a 5” line (laid up the driveway by Engine 16) for the necessary water supply. Class A Foam, delivered via Batch Mixing, was utilized to extinguish the fire in the hay bales stored in the shed. The fire was declared under control at 16:37 Hours.
