Reported House Fire
Saturday, November 9, 2013

On November 9th, the engine crew from 16 were preparing to complete the yearly detail and cleaning of the rig and all the equiptment. At 0953 the tones dropped and the alarm was sounded for a report of a house on fire at 620 Baker St, just blocks from station 2's quarters. Engine 16 responded with 21B (Derbyshire) and four personel. Dispatch advised while enroute that they received an additional call reporting smoke showing from the residence. Upon arrival Engine 16 dropped a line at a hydrant and had a light volume of smoke visible from the rear. The nozzleman advanced the front bumper line to the rear to find a pile of rubbish on fire, that had spread up and also behind the wall and was beginning to run. With the crew splitting into two teams, the now "barman" began peeling back and exposing the shingle siding. Fire was found running the wall and up into the porch overhang. The nozzleman extinguished the same and command held with the engines from 16 and 2 for overhaul.
