2014 Prom Promise
Thursday, April 24, 2014

On Thursday 24 April 2014, county high school students were transported to County Stadium to view the 2014 Prom Promise "Mock Crash."  Students were afforded the opportunity to visualize the possible ramifications of drinking and driving.  The "crash" consists of "wrecked" vehicles and young "victims" who are "extricated" by SFD personnel.  An "intoxicated" driver is interviewed by PD and arrested, two subjects are extricated and "transported" via ambulance and Trooper 4, and one subject is "DOA" and is transferred to a hearse.

The purpose of the event is to reinforce the consequences of drinking and driving and to show the young people what could happen should they make poor choices.  The event is managed by the Maryland Highway Safety Program and participants included the SFD, SPD, Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, MSP Aviation Division, Oak Ridge Bapist Church, HALO, MADD, and Holloway Funeral Home.
