Quick Work At A House Fire In 16's Area
Thursday, May 15, 2014

Around midnight Wicomico Central alerted Stations 16, 1 and 2 for a house fire with entrapment in the 600 block of Light Street in Salisbury.  AC 1 (O'Barsky) arrived minutes later with nothing evident from a 3 story wood frame dwelling however ascertained from an occupant outside that a subject had locked himself in his bedroom and set it on fire.  Engine 16 arrived on scene shortly after and split its crew along with Paramedic 16 to get a line in service and coordinate a search.  A fire was found in an upstairs bedroom along with the combative occupant.  The crew from Engine 16 was able to quickly knock the fire and get the occupant to cooperate.  The occupant was removed from the structure and was placed under the medical care of the crew from Paramedic 2.  Truck 1 arrived on scene as the first due truck and split its crew to ladder the structure for rescue and coordinate the primary and secondary searches with Engine 16.  Engine 2 and Tower 16 stood fast until being placed in service by command.  Command held Engine 16 and Truck 1 for overhaul.  All units returned to service shortly after.  Salisbury Police and Maryland State Fire Marshal also assisted on scene.
