SFD Fights Early Morning House Fire With Four Subjects Reported Trapped
Friday, July 10, 2015

AT approximately 0130 on Friday 10 July 2015, the SFD was alerted for a "fully involved house fire with four subjects trapped."  There was some confusion regarding the actual address.  Units arrived to find a 2 story Cape with fire and smoke showing and two female occupants on the roof who had exited via second story windows.  One female was assisted by a civilian utilizing a civilian extension ladder, while the other victim was rescued utilizing ladders from E16.  While on the roof, the second female victim indicated there was a four year old boy trapped inside his upstairs bedroom.  Crews quickly laddered the roof near the boy's dormer, broke the window, and removed the boy from the still-burning structure.  Crews then forced entry through the front door, advanced an attack line, and simultaneously completed fire extinguishment and a primary search, where they found an unresponsive dog in a back bedroom.  The animal was removed and issued oxygen via a special canine mask.

Four total patients, two adult and two children, were transported to PRMC via the crews of Paramedic 16 and Paramedic 2.  E1 completed secondary searches and provided water to E16.  Tower 16 provided utility control and secondary searches of the second floor. T2 provided overhaul and lighting for FM 94.  E605 assisted with overhaul and Paramedic A6 helped provide EMS coverage for the city during the event.
