Dwelling Fire

At 10:33 hours, stations 16, 2 and 74 were alerted for the report of a dwelling on fire. Assistant Chief 1(Donaway) arrived on scene with a 2 story, middle of the row townhome, with smoke from sides A and C. Engine 16 arrived, dropping a supply line at the entrance to the parking lot due to being out of hydrant area. The lineman and back up began to stretch a line to the front door as Truck 2 arrived and began to ladder the structure. Crews made entry and located fire in the rear kitchen area and extinguished the same. Meanwhile while checking adjacent homes, fire was located in the rear kitchen area of the adjoining home which had burned through the common wall and began to spread along the cabinets. An engine tanker from Delmar (74) as well as the additional duty crew from station 1, also with an engine tanked arrived and supplied the fire ground, as well as overhaul. Units remained on scene for just over two hours. Fire is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshalls office.
