Haz-mat Unit Rersponds To Fruitland - Fruitland Blvd. & South Camden Ave. Ext.
Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Around 10:00 hours the Fruitland Fire department was dispatched to a MVC with injuries. Rescue Engine 302 arrived and advised they had a two vehicle MVC involving an oil tanker that was leaking fuel. The officer on Rescue Engine 302 (O’Barsky) requested the Haz-mat unit from Salisbury Fire Department. Haz-mat 1 along with Assistant Chief Donaway and Paramedic 16 responded. Units arrived and determined that a large amount of fuel had spilled onto the ground. Crews from Rescue Engine 302 pulled an attack line for protection while Haz-mat 1’s crew placed booms, put down absorbent and pumped off the reaming fuel from the saddle tanks of the oil tanker. Two patients were transported to PRMC, units cleared shortly after.
