Salisbury Fire Department

1 Year to Empowerment is a year-long program designed to enable teenage girls on the Eastern Shore to make healthy choices, trusting friendships, and attainable goals. The program, developed by psychologists at The Child & Family Center in Salisbury and Easton, Maryland, promotes empowerment though 12 activities (one per month) that target mental and physical wellness and teach valuable skills to live healthy, balanced lives. Ultimately, through ACCEPTANCE, COMMITMENT, PERSEVERANCE AND EMPOWERMENT, the girls involved in the program will engage in activities designed to promote self-esteem, self-respect, and self-reliance over the course of one year.
